A Goble Warming Party

Where the Hell is Goble, OR?  If you’ve heard that saying then you’ve been to Columbia County, if not then you must come spend the day exploring.   Now it’s one of those cities where if you blink, you’ve missed it.  It’s worth a stop by for a beer, a burger, or play a game out back or come in for live music usually last Friday of the month.   August 15th marks the important day for the Annual Goble Warming Party.  A Goble Tavern spokesperson shared that varying stories as to WHO came up with the name for the party to be called Goble Warming. But it’s catchy.  They think former owner Jerry Modine with his company Pig Party Productions roasted a pig on his farm a couple of times and then moved it to the Goble Tavern.

Goble Tavern new majority owners since 2006, Mike Avent &  Meryl Head partnered with Tim Navarro & Melanie Smith purchased the 50-60 year old Historic Goble Tavern from Jerry Modine.  Just so you know Goble back in the day was a thriving Port town still located with a view of the Columbia River.  Now days it’s quite less populated with one famous business, The Historic Goble Tavern.  The Goble Tavern has been under several different owners over the years but its claim to fame is that Willie Nelson’s mother once bartended there when he was 19 according to local folklore.   It also has a summer music contest “Search for the Star” sponsored by Jim Beam. Goble Warming Party is the contest finals for “Search for the Star.”

Come down on August 15th to celebrate Goble Warming.  Live music starts at 2:30 PM with no cover charge.  Be sure to bring a few of your favorite friends.  It’s all about getting together in one spot with live music to celebrate Goble, OR.   You’ll meet a few locals, plus enjoy the small town vibe. See you there. Historic Goble Tavern Information
