SCAPPOOSE — The Scappoose Farmers Market has returned for its 12th season.
Vendors will sell goods from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 27 in the Scappoose City Hall parking lot, and along Southeast Second Street, off of East Columbia Avenue.
Shoppers will find fresh, locally grown vegetables, fruits, and seasonal Oregon berries, as well as nursery plants, herbs, flowers, handcrafted items by local and regional artisans, and other items for sale.
On average, the market features between 22-24 vendors a week. For those who are interested in selling their wares at the market, contact the Scappoose Community Club for information about guidelines and fees.

Grant Watts Elementary: 10 a.m., school playground, 5200 S.E. 3rd Place; for children 12 and younger; thousands of plastic Easter eggs filled with candy and toys will be hidden; sponsored by Scappoose Kiwanis; free.
Columbia County Fairgrounds: mEGGa egg hunt; 11 a.m. (gates open at 9:30 a.m.); 58892 Saulser Road; for ages 12 and younger, and special needs children 15 and younger; other highlights include a petting zoo, face-painting, horse rides, archery and robotics demonstrations and more; free; CC Rider will offer shuttle bus rides from St. Helens High School to the fairgrounds.

The event, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., features a trolley tour through Scappoose and St. Helens, stopping at different businesses for various wine and food tastings. Pick-up is at Avenue 30 wine shop, 33480 Chinook Plaza, in Scappoose.
The final stop on the tour includes a “long happy hour” with food, drinks and live world class jazz music in 2Cs Vendor Mall.
Participating businesses include: Houlton Bakery, Alternations by Heather, Bertucci’s, Flowers 4 U & Antiques Too, Bella Maison, Miyako, Mo’s Art, Hook & Needle, 2Cs Vendor Mall, Treasures, Trinkets & Threads, Scandalous Hair Design and Dockside Steak & Pasta.

The event is sponsored by the City of St. Helens and Shedco.

Vendors sought for school bazaar
ST. HELENS — The McBride Elementary Parent Teacher Organization seeks vendors for their bazaar on Sat, Dec. 7.
The event is a fundraiser for the PTO. Space is $20 a person, plus $5 if a table is needed. Proceeds go toward the purchase of new playground equipment for the school.
Free photos with Santa, bake sale fundraiser
ST. HELENS — Richardson’s Furniture at 2015 Columbia Blvd. will offer free pictures with Santa from noon to 4 p.m. Sat, Dec. 14.
The annual event is offered alongside a holiday bake sale that benefits Relay for Life. Richardson’s will provide a photos service, however, visitors also are welcome to bring their own cameras to use.

Kiwanis collecting food for families in need
ST. HELENS — The Saint Helens Kiwanis Club has placed food collection barrels at various locations around town for use in their Holiday Hope baskets.
People can drop off non-perishable food items at Chubb’s Shell, Columbia River Fire and Rescue administration office, Habitat for Humanity Restore, IGA/Red Apple, Les Schwab Tire Center, Oregon Trail Lanes, Port of St. Helens administration office, Richardson’s Furniture, Safeway, Skinny’s Texaco, South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, and Sunshine Pizza.

SCAPPOOSE — Yo Mamas Frozen Yogurt, a self-serve frozen yogurt shop, will open in Scappoose on Sept. 1.
The business, owned by Scappoose residents Amy and Troy McNeil, is located in the Fred Meyer shopping complex at 51505 Columbia River Hwy. Customers will be able to create their own desserts with YoCream frozen yogurt products and a variety of toppings for 45 cents an ounce. Beverages will be available from $1-$3.
Yo Mamas will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

SCAPPOOSE — There are still a few spots open for the “Sweet and Savory Fondue” class offered at Avenue 30 Thu, Aug. 8.
The class, from 6 to 7 p.m., will feature instructor Gainor Riker, former owner of Houlton Bakery in St. Helens, who will demonstrate how to make two different types of fondue. A wine pairing also is offered.
