Fondue class, wine pairing Aug. 8 in Scappoose

SCAPPOOSE — There are still a few spots open for the “Sweet and Savory Fondue” class offered at Avenue 30 Thu, Aug. 8.

The class, from 6 to 7 p.m., will feature instructor Gainor Riker, former owner of Houlton Bakery in St. Helens, who will demonstrate how to make two different types of fondue. A wine pairing also is offered.

SCC chamber offers ‘Better, Smarter, Richer’ business workshop

ST. HELENS — The South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will facilitate the Jackie B. Peterson workshop “Better, Smarter, Richer” on Oct. 30 at the St. Helens Public Library.

The workshop, offered as part of a fall series, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. It is aimed toward “solopreneurs” and creative entrepreneurs.

Topics discussed will include uncovering the importance of focusing within your field, exploring the time-money squeeze, learning to charge what you are worth, and discovering basic business principals to help “solos” and creative types build a financially successful business.

The cost to attend is $60; chamber members pay $40. Class size is limited to 85 participants. Advance registration is required. The workshop is sponsored by Pacific Industrial Service.
