The concept of “Empty Bowls” was established in 1990 by a high school art teacher from Michigan. His students crafted ceramic bowls to sell during a fundraising meal where proceeds benefited hungry members of their community.
Guests at the St. Helens “Empty Bowls” event will purchase studnet-made bowls and fill it with cuisine donated by local food merchants and dining establishments. Everyone keeps their bowls as a reminder of hunger in the world.
